Redhook ReDesigns
Urban Research and Spatial Proposition
As a landscape professor, I’ve often taught second semester, first year design studios. For these courses, the aim is to introduce the analysis of sited systems and their spatial forms – so that student get comfortable with material systems, independent research, and mixed-media work, using aerials (anywhere), gis, and on-site exploration. Students identify interesting conflicts and develop a spatial intervention, drawing through their responses and rhetorical framing in diagram, collage, and architectural graphics.
