Next for the Southeast Side

This South Side Weekly cover for April 7, 2022 was developed from an existing cover mock-up (see Environmental Explainers). In place of the Crawford Power Plant in the Pilsen neighborhood, this version features General Iron (aka GI, metal shredder) and the Chicago activists who’ve fought to block planning permits for a SE Side shredder & scrapyard location, given the air quality impacts of GI’s operation in the neighborhood.
